In all fairness, I was a little bummed the Japanese physical did not update to support the added languages, but yeah… Can’t have it all, right? Just compared to other collections, you can’t help but feel more could have been done with the pricing. In itself 40 euros is not a lot of money compared to the value given, I mean really, these are 3 of the best games in the genre and probably should all 3 be in the top 50 of all time! They are really that good, not kidding. But this is not a stab at Square Enix for their pricing, it is a remark I make mostly due to some other collections that have hit the console lately that are incredibly cheap for the given content, Contra and Castlevania collection to name a few. Maybe the price could be a little easier on the wallet. These are marvelous pieces of storytelling and just all out, great RPG mechanics. Out of all three games, I would not truly say there is a bad one or even a less good one.

TRIALS OF MANA PS4 REVIEW FULL

This game withstood the test of time the best out of the three games present in this collection and I am eagerly looking forward to the full remake. You also become friends with a faerie and before you know it, you are on your way to finding the Mana Sword, the one needed to defeat the evil wizard.Ī time tested storyline, great graphics for the time this game was released and overall top experience, Trials of Mana is nothing less of a genial game. You need to escape at night and head to the magic town of Wendel, here you will be able to change your class and fulfill your destiny! Along the way, you make a friend and he joins your party. Given the advice to go change classes in order to become more powerful, you set out for adventure and before you know it, you are in a town filled with beastmen. He wants to conquer your world and unless you somehow become stronger, he will win the battle easily. More precisely the Mana sword you will need to beat the vile sorcerer that bested you in the beginning of the game. Not simply because I loved the game the most, but because this one is getting a full-blown remake in full 3D soon! Trials of Mana is everything the title says, it is all about the trials it takes to wield the mana. This is the title I spent most of my allotted review time on. Second in the line is none other than Secret of Mana, a game I personally reviewed for PS4 and now that it is available on Switch, I think the portability factor of the Switch outranks the PS4 version, I would recommend reading the previous article on the title itself for information on the game, needless to say, this is another timeless classic. With an original release date of June 1991 and Zelda: Link’s Awakening coming out in 1993, one might wonder who inspired who? But enough about that, this game is one of the earliest full-blown RPGs and while this may be the odd duck in the pack of three games, it is possibly the biggest trendsetter among all three as it paved the way for numerous other RPGs to be made since! I loved it and this original Zelda feeling is right there. As we are talking about the OG Game Boy, forget about most RPG elements, this is back to basics in every way of the word. This game is in classic black and white but does support a more “GB Color” color scheme too. In this game, you are thrown in original game boy mode and will experience an RPG from “ye olde days”. I am more amused now than I was at the time…Ĭollection of Mana consists of 3 top titles and first is Final Fantasy Adventure (aka Mystic Quest). A funny experience that made me replay approximately 30 minutes of gameplay. I write “on purpose” because my cat managed to reset my game by jumping on my controller while I was taking a drink. These games are true masterpieces and my review will not be discussing how they play, the emulation is near perfect and I never encountered any issues “on purpose”.
